Combining Charity Work and Powerful Low Cost Marketing

By Ian Macdonald Someone once told that that what we achieve for ourselves dies with us, but what we achieve for humanity lives on forever. There is nothing like the freedom of being able to become so successful that we are able to contribute towards those less fortunate. Or maybe to assist in the research to eliminate a disease or to simply improve our community in a way that will have lasting impact. As an entrepreneur and an owner of a number of businesses, including a restaurant, it is sometimes hard to contribute as much as we would like. New enterprises and the risks that go along with establishing them, produce all kinds of pressure that we endure for the purpose of progressing further for ourselves and for our family. The Greatest Low Cost Marketing Technique However, some time ago we discovered a way of being able to contribute more, even when funds were tight. In fact, by doing so we actually made more money and built our business faster than would have otherwise been possible. We learnt this method from a marketing genius when we were looking for low cost marketing techniques. One of the techniques he showed us was to contribute directly to assist a patient needing urgent medical attention in Asia. We were thrilled to take this on as she would not have been assisted without our help. We publicised our project to all of our customers who were affected by the plight of this family, with whom we had direct contact. Our contribution had no administrative costs associated with it. We purposely took on a project to help a specific person that otherwise would not have been helped. This was because to simply say that we were donating an amount of money to a large charitable organization, would not have the same call to action on us or our customers. To see a relatively small amount of money go into a very large pot, as good as it may be, does not have the same impact. So we had a section of our wall in the restaurant dedicated to her plight, where all of our customers could get updates, read letters and also contribute. They could also send letters and we would check them and pass them on. With such an emotional effect on everyone, interest in our project became infectious and of course became a matter of community interest. This in turn attracted much free publicity for our restaurant in the newspaper and other publications and media channels. This boosted our sales enormously to the extent where we were able to contribute considerably more. In short, our wish to donate and contribute, rather than becoming a financial burden on our limited resources, turned out to be one of our greatest business decisions we have made. The loyalty of our customer base has increased and people take pride in being associated with us and our charity projects. You can do the same! So if you are wondering how to undertake effective low cost marketing for your business, irrespective of its size, we urge you to look at contributing to your community or some worthwhile project that you customers would also be proud to support. Target Marketing: The Bell Curve

By Rich Harshaw Finally, Something You Learned In Math Class Makes Sense In Real Life. Okay, here’s the day you’ve been waiting for since 9th grade: today’s the day you’re going to find out what some of that funky stuff you learned in math class has to do with anything. Believe it or not, there is a mathematical model – the bell curve – that explains how you should target your market. But first, we need to define some terms and dispel some traditional sales and marketing myths. Target marketing means a seller identifies market segments, selects one or more of them, and then develops products and marketing messages tailored to each. It’s a great concept, but most businesses don’t practice it – despite what they say. The reason is simple: most products and services are not developed with the wants and needs of the customer in mind. Instead of finding out what a market wants, most businesses first develop a product and then try to figure out how to sell it. This means that their marketing and sales efforts are usually feature oriented. They say something like “Look at all the great widgets and whatzits on our doohickie.” I call this marketing technique “Trying To Be All Things To All People.” In other words, “Hey world, here’s our crap…come buy it whether you need it or not.” Now let’s look at this approach in sales situations. Traditional sales books and trainers preach the importance of developing the skill of asking questions. When you get in front of a prospect, ask him detailed questions about his wants and needs then try to slam him with a pitch that matches his needs list. There’s just one small problem with this approach: if you haven’t already determined what those needs are, then the prospect won’t even know that you can help him and you’ll never get the appointment in the first place. You’ve heard the phrase “Sell the Appointment.” You have to sell the appointment when you use traditional sales techniques because nobody ever wants to see you…because they don’t perceive that you have any solutions to any problems they have. You are a nuisance. You are the person that gives salespeople a bad name. Fortunately, I’m not talking about you specifically. I’m only talking about the other 95% that still use those antiquated methods. The better way is to sell to the bell curve instead of individuals. (Here’s the part you’ve been waiting for…9th grade math relived.) Simply stated, the bell curve is a statistical model that shows that 80% of a given sample of prospects will have the same wants and needs as everyone else in the sample. For example, if your company services air conditioners, you might find that 80% of the market values both quick service and guaranteed appointment times over price and warranty of service. Now, there are some people who just want the lowest price. And there are others who insist that the warranty be excellent. But 80% of the people just want somebody there to fix their #!&%# air conditioner right now! How do you find out what’s most important to your prospects? Do this: informally poll your staff to find out what they think is most important. Then informally poll about 10 customers to find out what they think is most important. When you have a list – say the top 8 most important things – put it on a piece of paper and poll between 40 and 60 current customers and 40 to 60 prospective customers. Ask them to rank the importance of the items, 1 thru 8. Tabulate the results by adding up the scores. You will find that the responses will invariably form a bell curve. One or two out of the eight will be far and away the most important; one or two will be of almost no importance. The rest will be somewhere in the middle. Congratulations! You just made a bell curve and validated everything your 9th grade math teacher ever taught you. Half of you will be surprised at the results. Half of you will get the exact results you expected. The problem is you won’t know which half you’re in until you conduct the survey. Now comes the important part: what to do once you have the results. We call it Developing Your Distinguishing Advantage: you need to publish the results…in other words, let people know that you know what they want. Do this in your ads, letters, and various sales efforts. Once the market you have targeted sees that you have the solutions to their problems, they will flock to you as the obvious choice to do business with. Cellular Phone Service Companies

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Josh_Riverside]Josh Riverside Cellular phone service companies offer a range of services for cellular phone users such as postpaid and prepaid services, roaming and Internet facility. They come up with many packages to survive the intense competition in the market. Cellular phone service offers vary from region to region. Hence users need to know about a particular company’s coverage, facilities and service prices before signing a contract. Customers need to identify the cellular phone service provider in their region. The difficult task after buying a cellular phone is the selection of a suitable cellular phone service provider. Users must focus on the firm that gives better value, more benefits and a profitable deal that suits their requirements. While selecting a cellular phone service provider, prime importance is given to the area of coverage. The best cellular phone service company gives the best network service, coverage, plans, call costs and global roaming agreement. It is advisable to make a list of companies and their plans, including the minutes they give, the deposit they need and the duration of the contract. Those who need the cellular phone for overseas use are advised to choose a service provider who can offer more roaming capabilities. Clients must be assured of dedicated customer service before making a deal with a service provider. The technology used by various cellular phone service companies differs. There are both digital and analog cellular phone services. Digital services are usually clearer and more secure than analog services. Analog services extend more coverage than digital services. But analog services have poor sound quality and reduced privacy. Digital services have high sound quality, high security and the ability to support next generation services. Most cellular phone service companies provide digital services. They offer roaming option to get more coverage. Many cellular phone service companies cover the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) and Global System for Mobile (GSM) platforms. Each of these platforms has its own merits such as reduced background noise, security protection and global roaming. Getting Ready for Easter

By Geoff McGarvey Christmas is not long past, but I saw Easter eggs in my local supermarket before Christmas! I think that is a bit crazy, but I guess they sell, otherwise they would not do it. So why not get in on the action? Easter is not far away and you need to start planning now. But what to do? We will look at a couple of ideas that you might try this Easter, to boost your sales or improve customer relationships. A tried and tested method is to have an Easter sale. An oldie but a goodie. Now is the time to go through you figures and find out what sells and what does not. Maybe you could use Easter to give your second or third best selling item a little push. How about that old stock that you have been hanging on to for too long? Here is an opportunity to give a good discount and watch it walk out the door. Remember to look closely at your margins for each product. An ‘across the store’ 20% discount may just make your margin very slim on certain products! You could have an ‘up to 50%’ sale, where most products only have a 10-20% discount. You can take 50% off those things that just will not sell otherwise. Get rid of them and get product on the shelves that will sell. Something else could be a free giveaway with each purchase. It can be a simple as giving everyone a small Easter egg. The parents will love you, because it keeps the kids happy. Maybe you have some old stock that you could give away? It does not have to be expensive. It is the thought that counts. How about a special gift for special clients? If your business is one that has a small amount of customers that buy large amounts from you, you need to look after them. Make this Easter one they will remember you for. How far you go is dependent on how much this client could be worth to you during your business life. Wine, fine chocolates, a free dinner at a nice restaurant, a massage, you know them, so think hard about what they would like. It could be time to create an event. Can you make an event out of your business. A fashion parade, a local band, a local comedian, an author, sporting personality, a character meet & greet. What can you do? Other things to consider. How about posters. If you are having a sale, let everyone know about it. You want enough to cover your shop front and have plenty for in store decorations. Have some advertisements. Your local papers offer a direct route to your local customers. Two weeks of advertisements prior to the sale should help get the interest up. Get some flyers. Get the local kids earning some money delivering flyers to households. Local paper editorial. The same papers may be interested in your story, but you have to have an angle. Everyone has a sale. What will make yours different? Do you have a limited product? Are you giving away something with each purchase? Will your staff sing a song on the hour? Use your imagination. Your sale could have a limited time. Make sure you let everyone know that this sale is for the Easter holidays only. You could even limit it to one day. Limiting the time, makes it seem more attractive. Time to run a competition? Can you run a competition with your sale? How about getting customers to fill in a form to enter? That way you also get their mail and email addresses which allows you to market directly with the people who buy from you. How about a group offer? Can you offer products or services to groups? Get large local businesses to buy a lot and give them a great discount. Look at your web site. Do you have a web site? Can you run your sale online at the same time? Someone on the other side of the world may be just as interested in your sale. A children’s character. Do you get a lot of children in your shop? Why not have an Easter Bunny pay a visit? You could run a meet and greet at certain times. If the kids know about it, they will want to be there. Have a look at the checklist. Buy in extra stock, or sort out what you have and make a list of sale items. Organise printing (posters, flyers, competition forms, etc) Flyers need to go out in the week before the sale. Get your local papers press happening early. Remember they work ahead a few weeks at least. Organise extra staff for the sale. Train your staff for the sale. They have to work hard and fast. Dress your shop. Make it bright, fun, colourful. Stack sale items so they look plentiful. Make sure you have happy music playing as well. Small gifts for customers or special gifts for clients. Get the ball rolling. Using Easter as a selling device is not new, but it does work. Why not investigate what you can do to get those sales figures up for the Easter period? Rights and Obligations with Prenuptial Agreement

By Jeffrey Broobin Prenuptial agreements are like insurance policies. You do the paperwork, and then hope you’ll never need it. However, since half of marriages end in divorce within the first seven years, you may want to consider a prenuptial agreement before you walk down the aisle and say, “I do.” Since you could later be engaged in a nasty, costly, and emotionally draining divorce some day, you should consider a prenuptial agreement as a precaution. Below we have given you some information on what is in a prenuptial agreement and whether it could be useful for you. A prenuptial or ante nuptial agreement is a document signed by two people who intend to be married. It describes their rights and obligations should they get divorced. A prenuptial agreement informs the court how they want their assets and property divided up. Divorces become messy when parties cannot agree on the distribution of property, such things as the house, the house, stocks, and bonds and whether one party should pay the other alimony, now known as “maintenance” in most states. Assume that the husband has $1,000,000 in his own name prior to the marriage. A properly drafted prenuptial agreement can award that same $1,000,000 to him after a divorce, notwithstanding what he does with the money, such as purchasing a home in joint tenancy or shifting the money into other accounts. Without a prenuptial agreement, the wife might be entitled to one-half of the $1,000,000 or more, depending on the financial circumstances of the parties at the time of the divorce. The prenuptial agreement is a powerful and valuable tool that can favor the husband, protect the wife, or serve both of them fairly. It is a question of circumstances and intentions. Candidates for prenuptial agreements used to be just older individuals with huge estates that they wanted to protect from gold diggers for their children from previous marriages. Since more millionaires are born every day, the candidate pool is growing by leaps and bounds. Now everybody has something to protect: an unpublished author, the budding inventor, anybody with a lucrative profession or a good idea. So, before you dismiss the idea of a prenuptial agreement, assess your situation in life and your long-term future in deciding whether a prenuptial agreement is right for you. Consider at length the nature and extent of your present and possible future assets. A prenuptial agreement can be a very simple document running only a few pages that segregates each party’s assets owned before the marriage, or it can be a very complicated document that runs dozens of pages because it deals with income and assets acquired during the marriage, the payment of debts, attorneys’ fees, alimony/maintenance, and other financial matters. The next hurdle is raising the issue with your intended spouse, a very unromantic event. It helps to get it over with early. Perhaps you could blame it on someone else, such as your parents who may want to involve you in a family business, or possible business partners. If you have no one to hold responsible, just be honest. Tell your future spouse that you intend to be open, fair, and honest, and the fact that you will be revealing all your assets is a sign of trust. Assure your intended that he or she will be protected during the negotiation procedure and in the prenuptial agreement, and stress that the document is something you feel is necessary and wise before you get married. The most important thing is to discuss it earlier instead of later, so that the degree of pressure before the wedding is mitigated. Couples do not usually break engagements because of disputes over prenuptial agreements. In almost every instance, the agreement is signed and the parties are married. It is also completely appropriate to state that you will not get married without a prenuptial agreement; case law has indicated that this will not invalidate an agreement if made before the wedding. The best way to avoid charges of duress or coercion is to tell your future spouse early on that you want the prenuptial agreement. Sometimes, such documents are signed shortly before the wedding, but have been the subject of negotiation for months. A well-drafted agreement will recite the fact that, even though it was signed shortly before or on the wedding date, negotiations began much earlier. It is for clauses like this that you consult experts. Eventually, a prenuptial agreement will be fashioned so that you and your future spouse both accept it. The terms may not be what you initially envisioned and may not be what your intended would want. But that is the nature of compromise. “I Just Took The Hamburger More Seriously Than Anyone Else” -Ray Kroc

By Dr. Gary S. Goodman I was rereading one of my favorite business books the other day and I happened upon a quote of McDonalds guru, Ray Kroc: I didnt invent the hamburger. I just took it more seriously than anyone else. I love that line. Kroc, as you may know didnt invent McDonalds, either. He invented the MODERN McDonalds; the one you and I know, and have probably frequented a hundred or more times in our lives. The McDonald brothers, of San Bernardino, California, invented what was then a breakthrough for a fast food drive-in. Krocs work represents a watershed not only in fast food marketing, but also in systematizing service work. And I have been a beneficiary of his wisdom, quite a direct beneficiary, at that. When I was seventeen, I worked for an experimental unit of McDonalds, called Ramonds. This is pronounced exactly as you would Mr. Krocs first name, Raymond, except the emphasis is on the second syllable. We tested new menu items, such as roast beef, and different pricing and dcor changes. And Ramonds units were not drive-ins or drive-throughs. They were like todays urban McDonalds units, on the first floors of office buildings. Anyway, whats important is how seriously we were all taught to take cleanliness, service, and being systematic. Everything we did was operationalized. When do you flip a burger? When a little ring forms around the outside portion of a cooking patty. I could go on. What Ray Kroc did with food Ive tried to do, obviously in a more modest manner, with customer service and sales work: to make them highly achieving and idiot proof. After all, to impress a seventeen year old, get him to work his tail off, teach him the value of discipline, cleanliness, service, and systems, well, thats nothing less than a huge achievement. Millions and millions of employees, worldwide, got their start under the the Golden Arches, and we have benefited immeasurably because one fellow simply took the hamburger more seriously than anyone else! Dr. Gary S. Goodman, President of Customersatisfaction.com, is a popular keynote speaker, management consultant, and seminar leader and the best-selling author of 12 books, including Reach Out & Sell Someone and Monitoring, Measuring & Managing Customer Service, and the audio program, The Law of Large Numbers: How To Make Success Inevitable, published by Nightingale-Conant. Water and Weight Loss

By James Harison Water is useful when we are trying for losing weight. Water suppresses the appetite and helps to reduce the body fat. There are lots of study materials about how water help in reducing fat available online. Study shows that if the intake of water in body is less then this will increase the fat level in the body. Water plays a very important role into the basic body function. Taking fresh water is the key for healthier body. Intake of fresh water helps most of body function like clear and healthy skin; weight loss; reduce the level of cholesterol into the body. According to a report published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, to be well hydrated, the average sedentary adult man “must consume at least 2,900 milliliters (12 cups) fluid per day, and the average sedentary adult woman at least 2,200 milliliters (9 cups) fluid per day, in the form of noncaffeinated, nonalcoholic beverages, soups, and foods”. Water is associated with the function of digestion and absorption of food in the body. Water is also helpful in the proper functioning of lever. The basic function of lever is to metabolize fat into the energy. Drinking enough water helps many medical ailments: chronic fatigue, allergies, depression, digestive problems, urinary tract problems, constipation and more. Water is helpful to flush out the harmful toxins from the body and many more thing like which is given below:- Control over the body temperature. Lubricant the joints of the body. Flushing out the waste from the body. Maintain muscle stimulate. Taking proper amount of water optimize the functioning of the body. Water helps us in weight loss. Often times hunger is disguised as thirst. If you think that you are hungry, drink 8 to 12 ounces of water instead of grabbing a bag of chips. Wait for about 10 minutes and see if your urge to eat doesn’t “go away” To curb your appetite prior to mealtime drink a glass of water prior to eating. This will help fill you up and provide the hydration your body needs to run efficiently! There is no side effect of intake more water into the body. There are more benefits which directly help to lose weight loss through water intake. Water maintains and encourages proper kidney function, which increases the efficiency of the liver’s fat burning ability. The person feels more hunger than the person who takes more water so water also works as an appetite suppressant. We can intake water into various ways like in the form of juice, tea, coffee and any liquid thing which we can drink. Finding The Best Display Case For Your Treasures

By Antigone Arthur Maybe you have a bunch of collectibles sitting in your closet gathering dust. Or perhaps you’ve been storing your fine China in the kitchen cupboards instead of a hutch. Far too often we sequester our prized possessions rather than place them where they deserve to be… on display. Finding a good display case and setting it up is probably a lot easier than you think it might be. Yes, there are many display cases to choose from. Occasionally you may have a need for a specialty case. Fortunately there are some easy steps to follow to find the right case to show off your treasures. Finding The Right Case If you truly want to show off your valuables, first you have to find the right case. There are certain circumstances that warrant a specialty case. If you aren’t sure if you need a specialty case, here are some examples of cases that will help you decide: Die cast car display cases Flag display cases (military flag burial cases) Football jersey display cases (and other sports memorabilia) Jewelry display cases Sword display cases (and knife cases) Commercial pet display cases If your prized possessions don’t fit into any of the above categories, chances are you can get away with ordinary wooden display cases. This is good news because there are dozens to choose from. Even if you need a specialty case rest assured you are bound to find the right one to meet your needs. Before deciding the right display case you first have to decide what exactly you want to display. Some people prefer displaying coins and other similar collections, while others want to show off their favorite jersey or an award from some memorable event. Keep in mind there are display cases large and small to accommodate each of these needs. Once you decide what you want to display, figure out how much of it you have. This will help you decide the size of the case you need. If you want to show off your coin collection and have more than 100 coins, you’ll need a larger case than a standard size small display. Keep this in mind when shopping. When picking your display case, also keep in mind where you plan to display your treasures. You’ll want to place them in a prominent place, but likely you don’t want to waste too much room overall. Fortunately you can select an elegant yet compact case many times to suit your needs. When looking at display cases, you should have in mind how many shelves, hooks, mirrors or other accessories you’ll need to showcase your items. A mirror is always a great bonus because it can reflect your treasured collectibles within. You should review several different models of display case before you decide the one that is best for you. Keep in mind when selecting your display case you will likely also need many accessories. Some of the more common accessories include anchoring wax, polish, self-adhesives and stick on feet. If you plan to hang your china you will need the proper hooks to do so. You also want to be sure to select a case that is sturdy. A sturdy case will last a lifetime. Display Your Items Correctly Once you decide the right type of case you’ll want to display your items correctly. You want your collectibles to look great and put a smile on your face. Whether an expert or novice, you can do this following a few easy steps. First, group your collectibles together. Next, be sure you place small objects together. Remember that when it comes to a display, less is more. The more items you try to jam pack in your display, the more distracted the onlooker will be. Try to select a few key pieces or even one piece to highlight if you can. This piece can form the center of your display. Then, if you choose, you can surround this object with others. Remember, your display should reflect a little of your personality as well. Have fun when creating your display. Pick and choose accessories as you see fit.
